Note: Tess Turner has never really felt she fitted in and after what she read that night on her father's blog she knows for certain that she never will. How she deals with her discovery makes an entirely riveting, heart-breaking story told through Tess's eyes as she tries to find her place in the world. Teenagers
365 pages ; 23 cm (hbk)

A beautiful book written beautifully well and with such a beautiful plot I could just not put it down. So far my favourite Pitcher book, I was amazed at how she was able to capture the character of Tess perfectly and realistically. I would not choose to read books about teen girls but automatically the character of Tess was likable and kind, with, for once, an understandable reason to her "silence" later on in the book, I read on and thoroughly enjoyed the story. The cleverness of the plot with the stories of the teachers at school who manipulated Tess, with her friends and her father was gripping and the outcome led me to rejoicing out loud. Through the story we saw Tess' growth and the end was a pride worthy moment (I won't spoil it!) I would definitely recommend it as a book as firstly, its a great depiction of secondary school and the struggles of a teenager in this age. Secondly, it's very well written and lastly, it's un-put-a-down-able...so it's worth reading as it doesn't ta

Note: 'Wonder' is the funny, sweet and incredibly moving story of Auggie Pullman. Born with a terrible facial abnormality, this shy, bright ten-year-old has been home-schooled by his parents for his whole life, in an attempt to protect him from the stares and cruelty of the outside world. For children
315 p. ; 23 cm (hbk)

An amazing, incredible book with a touching message that really tugs at your heartstrings. It is about a young boy called August (or Auggie for short) who is facially disfigured. Also, each different chapter is narrated by a different character, which I think is really great as it gives you an insight into everyone's lives and you know what they're feeling and their version of events. The book is really sweet as well as Auggie is starting middle school with all the other 'normal' kids and is actually going through the same things as everyone else. This seems so sad as he is treated differently and bullied just because of what he looks like, and all I have to say from that is that we are all a lot more similar than we may seem. THIS BOOK IS SO EMOTIONAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-'( :-'( :-'( :-'( :-'( :-'( :-'(
