Paperback:Leah on the offbeat:2018
Author: Albertalli, Becky
Year: 2018
Language: English
Interest category: Young adult novels
Media class: Paperback
Publisher: Penguin Books
Resource type: Physical
Note: In this sequel to the acclaimed 'Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda' - soon to be a major motion picture, 'Love, Simon' - we follow Simon's BFF Leah as she grapples with changing friendships, first love, and senior year angst. When it comes to drumming, Leah Burke is usually on beat - but real life isn't always so rhythmic. An anomaly in her friend group, she's the only child of a young, single mum, and her life is decidedly less privileged. And even though her mom knows she's bisexual, she hasn't mustered the courage to tell her friends - not even her openly gay BFF, Simon. So Leah really doesn't know what to do when her rock-solid friend group starts to fracture in unexpected ways. Teenagers

Leah on the offbeat is very good book as it isn't about the main character but the main character's best friend as it says in the book. It shows that no matter what you can find love. Like Simon vs the Homosapiens Agenda, it is one of my favourite books!

I loved this book and couldn’t put it down. The characters were amazing and very believable. He is bullied at school and called a freak, he has two friends who know the truth and stand by him throughout the book. Leo joins the school in Year 11 and comes from a totally different background to David where money is thin on the ground and his home life is challenging with a father who has walked out on him years ago and a mother who doesn’t give him much emotional support. David tries to befriend Leo but is rejected, however, as times goes on Leo ends up sticking up for David and a relationship is formed.
